poor use of space, writting too cramped to read, art to spaced out.
what could be read was badly constructed, too many "she did this" and "she did that" too many words in general for the comic book format, should have been kept a sort fan fiction. sorry I want to say something positive. It's nice to see people submitting art and joining in, reguardless of the quality. a few intresting panels and uses of layout. art is not awfull, next time I would like to see him fill the panel and try to convey the story more with imagery and add words only once the image has been sized to the size it will be displayed at. might be an idea to have him, add words to smaller scaled pictures and try to fill some of the blank panel space with better laid out wording... then re-submit? |

Issue 3: "Her Room in Hell" Written by Gordon Napier; Art by Gordon Napier and Elena Yaseneva
It has been said that sometimes, in our days of deepest sorrow, the only comfort can be the memories of bliss. “Her Room in Hell” plays with that idea beautifully. Lee is taken to Hell, but unlike some Hellraiser comics, this is not the end of her tale. Once there, she dreams of days past; frolicking and just messing around with a friend of hers, Anna. Meanwhile, Anna is on the other side of the Schism, wondering where Lee is, worried that something might have happened to her, oblivious of just how bad it really is. She too dreams of better days, thinking of those same times. This story is really about both girls; it’s about what it’s like when friendships are forever separated by space, two people wanting to find each other… doomed never to. The art is expressive. It’s a bit rougher than what you might expect, but it fits the mood of the story wonderfully. The Cenobite is a wonderful creation. It’s macabre, twisted and above all, nothing like what’s on Earth… It looks nothing like any other Cenobite (no leather in sight), but fits perfectly with the concept of them and idea. There’s some truly terrible imagery here that the Cenobite inflicts onto Lee, in particular, the shot of the Cenobite “hugging” the limbless girl really disturbed me. (Oh, and love the Engineer/Zippy from Rainbow cameos). While I agree that there is a bit too much text, a lot could’ve been cut down, it still works, I feel. This story plays with a lot of themes and pulls them off in style. The loneliness of loss and the sadness of separation are used by both the author and artist to pull off the wonderfully evocative mood of this comic. you've done it again! lol post the link, so we can all see! It's the same website as last time nathan, www.cenobite.com/hellbound @Byzantine Thanks for the constructive criticim, I take responsibility for cramming too many words in per panels, though and personally I think comics can have more in depth writing as well as shorter ones, variety being the spice of life and all. But thanks for the review and fair feedback. - Scarecrow -------------------- "Liberate tutemet ex inferis"

some of the text was very very small, very small. even when i zoomed in at 200% it was hard to read and any larger than 200% made it blurred and pixellated.. can this be fixed? pinup at the end was great too! very good story was alright, i always like the moody-lonely hell stories, those sort are among my fave in the comics. -------------------- ![]() |

That's odd, maybe it's to do with monitor settings? OI know the text isn't great but it is readable on mine. I'll test it out a few places, see what I can do. Would you be able to download the PDF version, which is higher quality, and let me know if that versions has more readable text? Glad you liked the moody atmoisphere of the story and the additional artwork! - Scarecrow -------------------- "Liberate tutemet ex inferis"

While I preferred the style on the cover (hard to maintain for an issue I'm sure) there is a lot of great details crammed into the panels here, and some earnestness to the story that often eludes HR writers overreaching for hard, scary writing. Good stuff imho. Of course, being an editor, I would do my best to keep anything I didn't like from being published w/o revisions =)

The good:
I really liked the limbless Lee in particular... it's an intense mutilation, but it wasn't just played for gore here. It got me thinking about what it would do, psychologically, to a person for her to suddenly wake up without limbs. What that would mean losing. And how it would mean, yeah, as people mentioned, suddenly being like a doll or toy. Given that, the Cenobite putting those rings in and hooking her by the arm-stumps was even more vivid. The bad: I thought the Engineer just looked comical and that panel was pretty much ruined for me. DX Also, I'd seen the pencils of this and I actually liked those more than I liked the finished product. I don't know why. There was something about the softness of it all before inking that made it that much more melancholy. And I had the same problem with the text beign difficult to read. I figured there'd be links to bigger versions of the panels so I could click and read anything that looked fuzzy, but there were none. -------------------- |

I figured there'd be links to bigger versions of the panels so I could click and read anything that looked fuzzy, but there were none. Should do that, definitly, my bad. If you do view-image at the moment you can get them full size, at least. Not sure why the pages seem odd, I can read fine on mine but I wonder if its to do with the browser and various settings? We'll try and sort it. For those who are interested, here's two pages of original line-art! ![]() - Scarecrow -------------------- "Liberate tutemet ex inferis"

oh god yeah, the original sketches are much more impressive. could you upload a version of the finished comic without the colouring up? Well, the artist was keen to see them inked and coloured, but we're happy to share these original pencils. I believe Gordon also does commision work for anyone interested, check out his Hellbound Chronicles profile here for other work: http://www.cenobite.com/hellbound/profiles/napier.htm I think Elena did a greta job on the inks and colours, but obviously there's always going to be a difference between pencils and fully done work, and I think both work personally. - Scarecrow -------------------- "Liberate tutemet ex inferis"

Awesome, those pencil pages look really good, the look of the girl is far more expresive than in the coloured versión, I liked how the issue was done in the finished version, but this sketches look good at their own.

"I had to close the shop"
But as with the others, it's original, and still true to the Hellraiser universe. This one has great coloring too! |
