Rate and discuss the thirteenth (unlucky for some) issue of the Hellbound Chronicles.

We'd love for you to leave feedback if possible, not just a vote, let us know what you want to see, where you want the series to go, where you think the art and writing can improve. I think Alexa did a great job on this one in bringing the characetrs together, and berty's visuals are justv striking. The panels feel very dynamic and energetic, and each character has its own life to their design.

I got #13? That's kind of epic. :-)

I can't comment on my own writing here -- that'd be cheaty -- but I do want to just say how much I was wowed by Berty's art. I've always thought he has a fabulous style, so I knew I'd like whatever he came up with, but wow, the art for this just amazed me. As I saw each page I was just more and more impressed. So thanks Berty for bringing my words to life so beautifully. :-)

Hurray! My Lisa/Hush fascination has been satisfied...at least for now.

My favorite parts:

Page Three - Panel One: I really liked Hush's entrance here. It helps emphasize that her speciality is apparently in training demons (Hell's dog trainer?). This was of course alluded to in The Damned Rogue and further elaborated in the pinup a few issues ago. Hush herself looks amazing. Her stance very much conveys an assertive dominance. There is also a sensual look to her, very alluring.

Page Five - Panel Four: Hush's facial expression is perfect. Great work on this one, it clearly shows her being uncertain but not actually cognizant yet. It makes sense this way, Pinhead didn't recognize his own picture at first, it took so cajoling from Kirsty first.

Page Nine - I love how she cuts off the bindings over her eyes. Neat moment!

I thought the brother's motivations were pretty believable, I can think of someone I would take that kind of risk for. The thing is though, he didn't really seem to think it out very much. I mean, it looks like he just opens the box. Couldn't he have tried something a bit cleverer

So....how did she get rid of those spikes on her shoulders?

Well, I am happy to say that this should not be the last we see of her.

Good to hear your favourite parts! I thought that first image of Hush by Berty was some of his best work.

Well, maybe Jon didn't quite know what he was letting himself in for? Maybe he felt sure Lisa would know it was him. He's obviously found out some information... perhaps his story could be told some day. wink.gif

As for the spikes, I guess she removed them as best she could!

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I'm glad to see you liked it.

And point taken about the box. I was focusing on Jon's purpose being different from that of most others, but yeah, if I had it to do over I'd probably show it being very difficult for him (because Lisa is the pattern whiz, and because he's not interested in the pleasures of Hell but only in trying to rescue her.)

Oh, well I didn't mean I thought his opening the box was depicted as too easy. I meant, he just opens it to get his sister. In Bloodline, Merchant sets a trap for Pinhead and the cenobites and uses a remote dummy. In HR2 Channard hides behind a mirror and watches the box being opened.

Of course, a valid point is that Jon most likely has nowhere near the knowledge of the lament configuration that these guys do. It could be that all he knows is that his sister is trapped in there, so why wouldn't he just open the box. What else would he do? What else could he do??

I gte what you mean. I certainly think there's more to Jon's story than what we've seen, such as how he got to this point. I certainly think, if he's spent his whole life dedicated to searching for Lisa, then that 'desire' went towards him calling Hush up, out of all the Cenobites. I'm not sure Jon knew too much of what he was doing but was certain he could get her. Perhaps soemday more of his tale can be explored.

This is also amazing. Loving the Hush story line.
